There is a scholarly consensus that linguistic landscapes have descriptive and analytical potential for a sociolinguistic analysis of any area. Keeping this view in mind, the present study investigated the use of English and its impact on Sindhi in the linguistic landscape (LL) of a small and a large city of the Sindh province of Pakistan. It attempted to explore what types of linguistic inscriptions/patterns emerge as a result. The Sindh province is unique in Pakistan in that Sindhi is used at both public and official levels. Our study analysed 398 photos, out of which 224 were captured in Larkana and 174 in Hyderabad. The descriptive analysis of the data found four patterns with English-only as the most recurring pattern followed by Sindhi-only. The analytical aspect of the four patterns demonstrated that English is impacting Sindhi in multiple ways including the lexical Englishisation of Sindhi, which significantly indicates that no matter how powerful a local/regional language such as Sindhi is, it is not free from the impact of English.
