The paper presents the results of contact wear studies of surface layers of 6Cr4Mo2VSi steel under the action of pulsating contact stresses. Differences in wear resistance of surface layers of materials are shown, in interrelation with modes of synthesis of their structure and properties. The features of the evolution of the structure of modified layers strengthened by nitrocarburizing are revealed. The modes of thermo-chemical treatment for achieving maximum resistance to the action of pulsating contact stresses are determined.
