This study aims to evaluate the phytochemical composition and antioxidant properties of Ajania fastigiata (C. Winkl.) Poljakov, a medicinal plant native to Kazakhstan. For the first time, a comprehensive GC-MS-based phytochemical profiling of this species was conducted, revealing a unique chemical composition. GC-MS analysis identified 26 bioactive compounds in the ethanol extract, with bicyclo[3,1,1]hept-3-en-2-ol, 4,6,6-trimethyl-(30.6%), hexadecanoic acid (11.0%) and 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid (10.7%) as the major constituents. The ethanol extract showed the highest total phenolic content (65.7 mg GAE/g) and flavonoid content (7.18 mg QE/g). Antioxidant activity, evaluated through DPPH and FRAP assays, demonstrated significant radical scavenging capacity (79.21% at 1 mg/mL) and reducing power (1.3727 OD at 1 mg/mL), comparable to gallic acid. The essential oil contained camphor, α-pinene and carvacrol. These findings highlight Ajania fastigiata as a promising natural source of antioxidants and support its potential for pharmaceutical and therapeutic applications. Rezumat.
