In a market economy, human resources are one of the main elements ensuring the effectiveness and competitiveness of the organisation. Systematic conduct of research and analysis of employee’s performance is pivotal in improving the human resource management system of a modern organisation. The analysis encompasses a comprehensive review of the performance and contributions of lecturers in the academic and scientific activities of the university. By incorporating lecturers’ KPI into the portfolio model BCG matrix, this paper aims to identify the lecturers’ positions in the internal university ranking and to apply HRM practices in accordance with the positions in this matrix. We have created a new method for implementing HRM practices in university management based on the findings, including who is eligible for retraining and training, which quadrant lecturers need to be developed, and motivated. Moreover, numerous recommendations for lecturers’ development were included. Copyright
