The increase in the amount and variety of waste, along with the health risks they pose, is considered one of the most significant problems faced by human societies today. Pharmaceutical waste is among the most prevalent types of environmental pollution globally and consists of expired products and unused medicines. This article focuses on collecting pharmaceutical waste from pharmacies and hospitals and transferring it to designated collection centers, where waste classification and future plans are made. This process is carried out in two stages. The first stage involves pharmacies, hospitals, and collection centers, while the second stage includes collection centers, disposal centers, and airports. In the first stage, pharmaceutical waste is collected, and in the second stage, the waste is either safely disposed of or recycled. Medicines that can be reused are sent to third-world countries. An optimization model is created to minimize transportation costs, construction costs of collection centers, disposal costs, and carbon dioxide production. Reducing carbon dioxide emissions is vital to creating a greener waste management system
