The article presents the main provisions of an elastic-plastic model of undercompacted clays for predicting the behavior of soils in Central Kazakhstan. It also includes the results of experimental studies and calculations of foundation settlements. As a typical example, the results of long-term geodetic observations of deformations of the bases of blast furnaces at the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant are also analyzed.
