This review explores the properties and applications of titanium composite coatings and the diverse deposition techniques used to fabricate these coatings, including electrodeposition, vapor deposition, plasma, thermal spray and laser cladding. These coatings combine titanium with various materials and alloys to optimize surface properties of different substrates like wear and corrosion resistance, hardness and thermal stability, which need to be enhanced to meet specific performance needs. Each coating method is examined in terms of its advantages, limitations and applicability to different substrate materials and industries. The structural and functional properties of titanium composite coatings, such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, hardness and mechanical properties, are critically analyzed. Furthermore, the review delves into the broad range of applications, highlighting the role of these coatings in improving the longevity and performance of components exposed to demanding conditions in aircraft and automotive, medical, cutting tools, and marine and chemical environments. It also provides a foundational understanding of the latest developments in titanium composite coatings and future trends and challenges in their design and implementation.
