The materials of the Saurambay Bronze Age settlement, opened in 2018, are published. The monument is located 105 km southeast of the city of Karagandy, in the Kotyrtas Mountains (Shet district, Karagandy region). The settlement area is more than 10000 m2, 21 pits are recorded on the surface, they are traces of ancient buildings. The cultural layer of the Bronze Age is partially covered by the ruins of the Kazakh wintering of the late XIX – early XX centuries. A reconnaissance excavation with an area of 9 m2 was laid between the pits of ancient structures. Two cultural layers were noted. The upper layer of gray ash is represented by roller-type ceramics, which determines the Begazy-Dandybay (Alekseevо-Sargary) cultural affiliation of the monument. In addition to ceramics, animal bones and ferriferous slags were found in it – by-products of copper smelting. At this stage of its existence, the monument was part of the system of settlements of the Taldy archaeological microdistrict, grouped around the settlement of Akkezen. The lower cultural layer in the form of brown ash contained animal bones, fragments of earthenware and copper slags. Ceramics from this layer have analogies in dishes from settlements and burial grounds of the Andronovo (Fedorovo) culture. In this Andronovo complex, a bone stamp was found for applying ornament in comb-like technology. The settlement is promising for studying the problems of the history and culture of the population of Central Kazakhstan of the middle and late bronze era.
