Abstract: The characteristics of special coke produced from poorly clinkering (or nonclinkering) coal depend on the production conditions—in particular, on the heating rate of the coal and the final coking temperature. Heating is associated with a complex set of physicochemical interactions: they may be regarded as a chain of parallel and serial reactions accompanied by the breakdown of the coal and the synthesis of new compounds. These processes of destruction and synthesis may occur simultaneously and in stages [1]. In this research, samples of special coke produced at different temperatures are investigated so as to understand the influence of the coking temperature on the structure of special coke (rexil).
