The Issue of Hijab in a Secular Kazakhstan

This article explores the relationship between the hijab and the theory of secularization through qualitative research methods. The study was based on the study of sources, collection and analysis of data using various sociological methods covering various categories of respondents, specifically through interviews with hijab-wearing schoolgirls, school principals, and representatives of local executive bodies. The findings indicate that the hijab remains a contentious issue in the context of secularization, with differing interpretations and opinions. While some see the hijab as a symbol of religious and cultural identity, others view it as a challenge to secular values and a barrier to integration. The study sheds light on the complex and nuanced perspectives surrounding the hijab in I contemporary society and highlights the need for further research and dialogue on this topic. ! The involvement of various actors in the study contributed not only to the .́ disclosure of existing problems from different prisms, but, importantly, to the identification of possible alternative ways to solve existing issues.
