Relevance: This article provides data on the health status and health promotion programs of adolescents aged 15–17 years in the Republic of Kazakhstan and other countries. Adolescents make up more than 15% of Kazakhstan’s population. Maintaining adolescent health is a complex task compared to caring for the health of children and adults, as adolescents are in a period of rapid physical, intellectual, and emotional development. Recognizing the potential of the country’s many young people and the importance of protecting and supporting their health and well-being, the Government of Kazakhstan has committed to actively supporting adolescent health promotion programs. The study aimed to substantiate the importance of effectively meeting the health needs of adolescents by analyzing the characteristics and possibilities of international and national experience in maintaining and strengthening their health, as well as the problems they face. Materials and methods: To study the current state of the adolescent healthcare system, scientific materials and research in this area were analyzed, and accessibility, directions, and goals of medical care were determined. In addition, an analysis of the state of, shortcomings in, and implementation of medical care for adolescents within the healthcare system was conducted based on available databases. PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar libraries were used to search for articles. Results: The conducted literature review revealed the main aspects of the health status of adolescents aged 15-17 in the Republic of Kazakhstan and in the world, modern trends, as well as scientific approaches to the development of programs for their preservation and strengthening. The results of foreign studies show that measures to preserve the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents, including training, counseling, and provision of contraceptives, increase the level of sexual knowledge, are effective in the use of contraceptives, and reduce teenage pregnancy. Conclusions: The literature review showed that poor adolescent health has a negative impact on the country’s economy. Failure to invest in adolescent health will further increase the number of dependents in the next generation, which will negatively impact their health. Therefore, efforts must be made to improve adolescent health to ensure a bright future for the next generation.
