The publication is devoted to the history of land law development of the Kazakhs in the Middle Ages and modern history. On the basis of the analysis of information from oriental and Russian sources, the characteristic features of the land law that was in force among nomads were researched. The rules and customs that existed in the Kazakh society concerning land use and environmental protection are presented.
