The article deals with the implementation of the competence approach to bachelors degree preparation in the field of defectological education. The modern labor market in the field of educational activity, being an external factor, dictates the need to train specialists focused not only on educational activities. The defectologists often have to act in the field of life situations, interpersonal relationships, where there are no ready-made ways to solve the problem. The profession of a defectologist requires special skills to focus on solving changing problems, transfer and apply their knowledge in new non-traditional situations, and direct them to a wide field of activity, both in theoretical and applied aspects. In practice, the results of professional education are in a demand not in the form of what a university graduate knows, but in the form of their practical readiness or ability to work in typical and non-standard situations of professional life.
