Gyroscopic orientation of mine workings is a method that allows using a gyrocompass to determine the direction of the geographic meridian at any point in a tunnel, tunneling, etc. The gyroscopic orientation of mine workings began at the beginning of the last century. The practical application of high-tech devices, such as digital gyrocompasses, has greatly increased the accuracy of the main bases of mine surveying networks and made it possible to orient workings at great depths. Gyroscopic orientation of mine workings is indispensable for the development of inclined shafts. Gyroscopic orientation of mine workings is carried out during connecting shooting during underground mining. The purpose of this orientation is to draw up geodetic plans, both on the surface of the earth and underground working horizons in a single coordinate system.
