The purpose of the study: to study the long-term dynamics of heat supply of spring barley production crops in the steppe zone of Northern Kazakhstan to manage the sustainability of agricultural landscapes. Research methods. The scientific research used a retrospective method, a systematic approach, an observation method, field experience (experiment), as well as statistical methods of scientific research. Research results. The results of a study of the heat supply of spring barley production crops in Northern Kazakhstan for the years 2003–2022 are presented for the purpose of developing organizational and economic measures to improve the efficiency of land use. The assessment of heat supply at different time intervals within the phonological phases of barley showed a limitation of crop productivity based on its ecological response. A similar assessment of other crops, environmental conditions and factors will reduce the land intensity of agricultural enterprises, thereby increasing the sustainability of agricultural landscapes. Conclusions. 1. The scientific article presents the results of a study of the ecological reaction of spring barley to the thermal conditions of the territory of Northern Kazakhstan as an ecological marker for managing the sustainability of modern agricultural land. 2. It was established that 5 zoned medium-ripened barley varieties were cultivated in the study area from 2003–2022. Optimal temperature regimes of culture growth by pheno-phase have been determined. The change in the average, minimum and maximum air temperature during the growing season is shown and its statistical characteristics are calculated. The probability of repeating years with different temperatures during the growing season and its stages is revealed. It was found out that the change in the average decadal, average monthly and average annual temperature over the studied time lag in June-August. The long-term dynamics of the average air temperature according to the pheno-phases of the culture for the entire studied lag and in 2003-2012, 2013-2022 has been established. The assessment of heat supply over twenty years and by phases of development of barley has shown the need to differentiate its crops in the structure of acreage based on its ecological response. The change in acreage under crops, whose reaction is stronger, expressed in yield, is directly related to the sustainability of agricultural landscapes and, as a result, agricultural production. 3. The results of scientific research can be used in the design, justification and optimization of agricultural land areas in the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to increase the sustainability of agricultural landscapes.
