A skiff beetle, Hydroscapha granulum (Motschulsky, 1855), is firstly recorded from Kazakhstan. The finds of H. granulum from Ulytau Oblast of Central Kazakhstan and Zhambyl Oblast of South Kazakhstan are currently the north and easthmost localities for this species.
