The article presents a component analysis of lexico-semantic groups of women’s names based on their marital status in the Tuvan and Kazakh languages. One of the most significant differential semes is the chronological position of a woman in relation to marriage, which serves as a reference point. Four primary marital statuses of women, relevant to their naming, are identified: pre-marital, marital, post-marital, and extra-marital statuses. These statuses vary from an axiological perspective, reflecting society’s approval or disapproval of a woman’s particular status. The names of women in these marital statuses share common features and differences, influenced by Turkic roots, religious, ritualistic, and other culturally specific factors. In the Kazakh language, there are lexemes such as “bäybışe” (elder wife) and “toqal” (junior wife), whose emergence is related to Islam and its traditions of polygamy. These lexemes do not have equivalent units in the Tuvan language.
