The article presents the results of experimental studies of the degree of soil aggressiveness impact on the occurrence of electrochemical corrosion in the metal fastening elements of portal type supports. The studies deal with the design features of portal type supports of overhead power lines 220-500 kV. Corrosion-induced disturbances in overhead power lines lead to long-term emergency shutdowns. In order to improve reliability of the overhead power line operation, it is necessary to control the condition of the attachment points of supports that are located underground. The most significant aggressive properties of the soil have been considered. A method of primary assessing the soil aggressiveness based on engineering-geological surveys has been proposed. Engineering and geological surveys have been carried out in accordance with the requirements of regulatory documents before starting construction of the overhead power line. The analysis of soil properties has been carried out on the example of the 110-kV overhead power line section from the Uzen substation to the Karamandybas substation. The overhead power line has the length of 30 km and is located in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Mangistau region, near the city of Aktau. In order to determine the degree of soil properties impact on the destruction of the metal elements of the support fasteners, it has been proposed to use the regressive method. This method will allow highlighting the most significant factors. According to the results of the research, the sections of the overhead power line most susceptible to electrochemical corrosion have been determined.
