This paper discusses modern approaches to optimizing the sensitivity of fiber-optic sensors based on Bragg gratings for deformation measurements in monitoring the condition of building structures. The main advantages of FBGs in the construction field are analyzed in terms of their relevance in practical applications. Recent research has proposed new design solutions that enable improvements in sensitivity. Furthermore, advancements in FBG parameters and technologies are highlighted as key directions for increasing the efficiency of SHM systems and their practical implementation in engineering applications.
