This study analyzes the factors contributing to education-job mismatch using data from Kazakhstan. The findings indicate that variables such as age, education level, and job type significantly influence whether an individual’s education aligns with their employment. The results suggest that job-education matches are more strongly influenced by a person’s skills and the nature of their work than by their personal background. Additionally, the study examines broader contextual factors in Kazakhstan that may explain why individuals often find themselves in jobs that do not match their educational qualifications. The policy implications of these findings are also discussed.
Education-job mismatch , Horizontal mismatch , Overeducation , Vertical mismatch
