Abay Kunanbay (1845-1904), who is considered to be the founding name of modern Kazakh literature, not only contributed to the literary language identity of Kazakh Turkish with his poems and black words, but also struggled to increase the knowledge, culture and civilization level of the Kazakh people. For this, he expressed at every opportunity that hardworking, diligent, well-educated individuals who attach importance to reason and science should be raised. Stating that everyone has a responsibility to each other and to their homeland when dealing with social issues, Abay advised every segment of the society to be fair, honest, truthful and tolerant. Education and science are the foremost concepts in Abay’s literary creativity. The majority of the middle and elderly population in Abay’s time was uneducated. Therefore, the issue that Abay complains most about is ignorance in the society. For this reason, he expressed at every opportunity that children and youth, who are the future of Kazakh people, should receive a good education. The focus of the study is Abay’s views on child education. In the review, both poems and black words will be evaluated in this respect and the place of these views in the education policies implemented by Kazakhstan today will be emphasized.
