The investigation aimed at studying engineering and geological conditions of soils in the foundation and the body of a tailings dam with further calculation of the dam stability parameters to select measures aimed at assessing the possibility of operation of the tailings dam with its subsequent conservation (abandonment) when the calculated values are reached. recommendations and measures have been developed for decommissioning and conservation of the tailings storage with its subsequent abandonment while ensuring industrial and environmental safety. a calculation methodology for engineering and construction works aimed at ensuring stability of the exterior slopes of the dam has been justified with account of physical and mechanical properties of foundation soils and rocks, weather and climatic conditions, and the modeling results.
