In this modeling study, software simulation has been employed to scrutinize the freezing process of water. Addition of nano-sized powder of CuO into H2O boosts the conduction mode. Container has one circular cylinder equipped with fins. Numerical technique with utilizing adaptive grid was employed. Implicit technique has been utilized with discretize the unsteady terms. Verification test was done with empirical data and according to this procedure, the assumption of neglecting buoyancy effect has been proved. Adding nano-sized particles can boost the thermal features and conduction mode become stronger. In addition, shape of nanoparticles is significant factor. With augment of fraction of nano-powders from 0.02 to 0.04, the solidification time declines about 13.77% if platelet shape utilizes. When φ = 0.04, replacing sphere particles with platelet shape causes freezing time to decrease about 8.36%. Impact of fraction of nanoparticles improves with inclusion of platelet particles. In addition, role of shape of particles become more pronounced with considering greater concentration of NEPCM.
