NEW BURIAL COMPLEXES FROM THE CATACOMBS OF THE KANGJY STATE PERIOD (I–IV CENTURIES) IN THE SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN

The article deals with the new materials in the form of archaeological complexes, obtained during excavations of catacomb burial structures of the Kultobe burial ground of the I–IV centuries in the Southern Kazakhstan, which in historical, ethnic, cultural and chronological contexts are associated with the Kangju state. Research illustrates the fact of the functioning of T-shaped dromos catacombs with collective burials as family (clan)vaults, where they practice multi-time inlet burials within the framework of religious dualism and other beliefs (cult of fire) with complex rituals (imitation of the “otherworldly life” in the underground structure space, sacrificial food) and the corresponding burial attribution. Informative archaeological complexes from the catacombs include tableware, kitchenware and ritualware, distance weapons (fragments of bone bow plates, arrowheads), protective armour (armour plates), household items (knives, buckles, hones, cosmetic items) and a lot of jewelry: necklaces, bracelets, earrings made of beads and pendants; bronze bracelets, gold and silver jewelry (earrings, rings). Chrono-indicators make it possible to determine the time limits of the obtained new archaeological material from the catacombs of the Kultobe burial ground in Southern Kazakhstan within the I–IV centuries.
