This paper explores how national identity can be embedded within smart city frameworks, using case studies of Astana (Kazakhstan) and Paris (France) to illustrate how technological advancement can coexist with cultural preservation and national heritage. As cities adopt digital infrastructures, aligning smart technologies with national symbols, languages, and historical narratives is essential for fostering communal pride and enhancing social cohesion. By drawing comparisons between Astanas integration of Kazakh heritage into urban development and Pariss emphasis on French cultural icons and language in its smart city initiatives, this study proposes actionable models for global urban development. A conceptual model is developed to guide other cities in embedding national identity into their smart city frameworks. This model includes strategies for curating cultural content, applying participatory design, and selecting appropriate technologies to reflect national heritage. Finally, we propose strategic recommendations for optimizing cultural representation in urban digital transformation efforts worldwide.
