The article summarizes the scientific activities of the Margulan Institute of Archaeology in 2024. The Institute continued the implementation of major fundamental and applied research projects aimed at studying cultural processes from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages on the territory of Kazakhstan. As part of program-based and grant-funded research, archaeological expeditions were carried out, resulting in the discovery of new sites and the acquisition of materials aimed at addressing current issues in the ancient and medieval history of Kazakhstan, as well as reconstructing processes of cultural transformation. Special attention was given to comprehensive interdisciplinary studies focused on the in-depth analysis of archaeological materials. Research was conducted on burial complexes and rock art, allowing for clarification of key aspects of the culture of ancient and medieval populations of Kazakhstan, including social organization and technological traditions. The increase in the Institute’s publication activity indicates the strengthening of Kazakhstan’s position in the international archaeological community: the number of articles published in Scopus-indexed journals has grown, and international collaborations with leading research centers in Europe and Russia have contributed to the adoption of advanced methodologies and technologies in archaeological research. Considerable attention was also devoted to scientific and organizational activities, including the organization of international symposia and the systematization of archival and library collections. The results obtained in 2024 provide a scientific foundation for the further development of archaeological research, the implementation of new technologies, and the deepening of our understanding of Kazakhstan’s archaeological heritage in the context of world history.
