The article presents the results of studying the process of sludge dezincification by hydrometallurgical method: leaching of zinc from sludge with hydrochloric acid solutions. The object of the study was converter sludge with the zinc content of 1,24 %. On the basis of experimental data, the optimal conditions of sludge leaching were estab-lished: the concentration of hydrochloric acid in the solution was 15 %, the leaching time was 90 min, the liquid: solid phase L:S ratio was 6:1. The separated iron cake contained 0,43 % zinc and could be returned to the production cycle at the stage of agglomeration of iron ore raw materials.
