This study examined how Kazakh proverbs reflect cultural values and norms regarding the education of daughters, a central aspect of Kazakh national identity, and explored youth attitudes toward gender-related proverbs. The research employed a mixed-methods design with three sequential phases: (1) qualitative content analysis of a proverb corpus using Pishghadam’s Cultuling Analysis (CLA) to uncover overt and covert cultulings (culture in language) embedded in the proverbs; (2) a quantitative survey of 268 participants to investigate youth responses; and (3) integration and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative findings to provide a holistic understanding of the research objective. Results revealed that proverbs convey culturally significant traits and roles for daughters, including upholding tradition, strengthening family ties, and supporting social unity. Survey findings showed gender differences, with male respondents agreeing more with traditional norms and female respondents showing higher disagreement. These patterns highlight generational shifts and tensions, illustrating how cultural narratives continue to shape attitudes toward daughters’ education in contemporary Kazakhstan.
