Abstract: Oxidative desulfurization of the gas condensate from Karachaganak field (Kazakhstan) was carried out. The influence of the oxidation conditions on the residual sulfur content in the gas condensate was examined. It was found that oxidation at a temperature of 60°C in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, as well as of sodium molybdate as a catalyst, affords a 91% decrease in the total sulfur content in the gas condensate. The oxidative desulfurization process was shown to have no significant effect on the physicochemical characteristics of the gas condensate. [Figure not available: see fulltext.].
