Traditionally, a translation procedure is defined as a multi-faceted one inevitably involving two or more languages and cultural traditions. On the other hand, under Kazakhstani conditions, while trans-lating from Kazakh into English and vice versa, Russian language and culture worked as mediators. It was historically predetermined because Russian functioned as a second language in Kazakhstan, being a consi-derably important source of information and working as a cultural bridge between European and Kazakh cultures. So, the main peculiarities of indirect translation from English into Kazakh via Russian and contextual implications in intermediary and target texts are considered as the topical object of our research. On the basis of pre-translation text analysis, lingua-cultural interpretation, and verifying language facts via the data from language corpora, we developed a model of interaction between English, Russian, and Kazakh languages and cultures in indirect translation with the focus on realia, phenomena of mental/spiritual and social spheres.
