The study examines contemporary methods for obtaining oxygen to be used in isolated and autonomous life support systems. A contemporary analysis of bioregenerative, solid-phase, electrolytic, and chemical approaches to air regeneration in terms of energy efficiency, technological complexity, and environmental safety has been conducted. Specific attention has been paid to chemical methods based on the decomposition of calcium peroxide (CaO2 ). Processes of interaction between CaO2 and hydrochloric acid, generating hydrogen peroxide H2 O2 and the following catalytic decomposition into oxygen, have been investigated in lab conditions. As the experiments have shown, providing an optimal agent ratio, an oxygen yield of up to 83 % of the theoretical value is achieved; at the same time, the carbon dioxide content does not exceed the maximum permissible concentrations. The key result is the confirmation of the methods efficacy using a technical-grade agent with an active substance content of (62 ± 3) %. The specific oxygen yield has been approximately 10 % per gram of powder. It has been established that the use of CaO2 ensures high efficiency of oxygen generation with mini-mum energy consumption, which makes this approach promising for use in the mining industry, emergency shelters, and deep-sea research modules.
