Influence of Niobium on Heat-Resistant Properties of Steel Cr18Ni10Ti

The Nb effect on long-term strength of Cr18Ni10Ti steel is considered. A justification is provided for selecting this steel to obtain cast parts for metallurgical furnaces. It is shown that an introduction of Nb in the amount of 1% into the steel of a given composition increases tensile strength and longterm strength by 15%. Improvement of properties is associated with the formation of niobium carbides (NbC).
