In the article are explained the results of the examination of the manuscript called ‘Kıssa-i Cengiz Khan’ written in old Turkish with Arabic letters, found in Chimkent city of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was not known to the scientific community before. The manuscript was preserved in the descendants of the Kazakh Khan Aliakbar, who lived in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The ‘Kissa-i Genghis Khan’ manuscript is sometimes referred to as a treatise, notebook or epic. According to the information in the text, it is thought that the work was written by Abdu Rahman Uzkandi in Turkestan in 1228 A.H. /1813 by the order of Aliakbar Sultan. According to the information in the work, the author was a native of Uzgent (now the Kızılorda region of Kazakhstan), located in the middle parts of Syrdarya. After examining the Russian and Kazakh historical data, it was determined that Aliakbar Sultan was the younger brother of Tokay Khan, who ruled the city of Turkestan in the early 19th century. After the lands of Southern Kazakhstan were captured by the Kokand Khanate, the Kazakhs, who could not stand their pressure, tried to save the city of Turkistan by enthroning Aliakbar Sultan as Khan in 1858. The text of the ‘Kissa-i Genghis Khan’ manuscript begins with the legendary genealogy history of Genghis Khan and ends with the Kazakh Khans, whose ancestors made Turkestan the capital. In the article, the ‘Kissa-i Genghis Khan’ manuscript is analyzed by dividing it into several parts. The first part of the manuscript consists of the genealogy of Genghis Khan, the epic about Emir Temir, the history of the Golden Horde Khan Canibek and Amet. The legends and historical stories in this section show that they spread among the Turkic-speaking Tatars, Bashkirs and Kazakhs, the heirs of the Golden Horde. The author of the manuscript ‘Kissa-i Genghis Khan’, which was written in Turkestan in 1228/1813 A.H., took the chapters of Cengiz Khan, which tells about the legendary folklore character, the “Epic of Hazrat Emir Temir” and “Amat with Canibek Khan” from a historical work called “Defter-i Cengizname” written at the end of the 17th century. The ‘Kissa-i Genghis Khan’ manuscript also contains folklore information and a number of outstanding genealogies from the ancient and modern history of the Middle East and Central Asia. In the manuscript, the names of the famous rulers of the ancient East and the tradition of historical works written in Persian are mentioned. At the same time, some of the information in the ‘Kıssa-i Genghis Khan’ is compatible with the famous Central Asian historian Ebülgazi’s Şecere-i Türk’ work. In general, along with the genealogies of Mongolian and Turkish rulers, there are some differences in the genealogy of the Shaybani khans from the Cuchi lineage and Kazakh khans. In the ‘Kıssa-i Genghis Khan’ manuscript, a lot of information about the Kazakh Khans, Esim, Cangir, Tauke, Semeke, Seyit, who made Turkestan the capital, cannot be found in any other historical data. The information that the ruler of Isfahan sent weapons to Tauke Khan, who was fighting with the Cungars, the information about the burial places of the Kazakh khans is quite interesting and requires the addition and modification of some views in modern historical science. The ‘Kissa-i Genghis Khan’ manuscript written in Turkestan is one of the most valuable historical documents written in the Old Turkic language.
