Abstract: Spatiotemporal variations in the structure of the attenuation field of S waves in the region of the Semipalatinsk test site (STS) have been analyzed. Variations in the amplitude ratio for Lg and Pg waves (parameter Lg/Pg) have been investigated on the basis of records of underground nuclear, calibration, and quarry explosions until the late 1980s and 2021, respectively. Variations of S-coda envelopes have been investigated using chemical explosion seismograms obtained by stations close to the territory of the STS. Spatiotemporal variations of the attenuation field are supposedly associated with the migration of deep-seated fluids in the earth’s crust and uppermost mantle due to the long-term intensive influence of explosions on the geological environment.
