Treatment of the coating with anti-icing materials, which contribute to a more intensive interaction of the wheel of a moving car with the road surface. Sand, screenings, crushed stone, and similar friction materials are used as anti-icing materials, and the value of the friction coefficient is mainly influenced by the size and the rate of their distribution on the icy surface. At the maximum spread rate, the treatment will result in a surface that resembles surface treatment. Taking this into account, the requirements for material dimensions, roughness, etc., imposed on surface treatment can be applied to the resulting surface. This coating will provide a slightly smaller actual contact area (compared to the untreated coating), but due to a significant increase in the mechanical component of the friction force, the interaction of the wheel with the coating will be more intense, which will contribute to an increase in the friction coefficient. But in the practice of winter maintenance, a complete analog of this method is uneconomical. Wherein, regardless of the amount of anti-icing materials consumption, the main disadvantage of this method is the weak fixation of friction material particles on the coating, which leads to a decrease in the effectiveness of anti-icing treatment and, as a result, to the uneven coefficient of adhesion and the need for repeated treatments. Therefore, to increase the efficiency of the use of friction materials, the main attention should be paid to ensuring the reliability of their fastening on the surface of coatings, especially icy ones.
