The article presents the results of a study of recent changes in the snow cover area (SCA) in the territory of Kazakhstan for the period from 2000 to 2022. NASA satellite data were used in the form of the NDSI Terra/MODIS Corrected Reflectance product with a spatial resolution of 1 km. A map of the dynamics of snow cover melting in 2022 is presented. Significant interannual variability of snow cover area is shown. The comparative dynamics and trends of snowmelt in the first ten days of March and April for the period 2000–2022 are considered. On average, SCA for the 1st decade of March and the 1st decade of April is 74 and 30 %, respectively, of the area of the study territory. A shortterm trend for an increase in the area of snow cover in 2004–2011 was found. The statistical parameters of snowmelt are analyzed for two periods: 2000–2010 and 2011–2022. A decrease in the area in the last period is shown, in particular, a decrease in the average area, the first and second quartiles, both in April and March. According to the actual data for the period from 2000 to 2022, a statistically insignificant weak trend was revealed for the reduction of snow cover area by 4 % every 10 years.
