This research paper presents a developed experimental investigation into the electrical characteristics, specifically power-voltage and current-voltage and behaviours of photovoltaic solar modules. Four PV modules were used to achieve the experimental work (Monocrystalline silicon, Polycrystalline silicon, Amorphous silicon, and Copper indium gallium di-selenide). A new code was built utilising MATLAB software incorporating three approaches (explicit, slope, and iterative methodologies for parameter identification for the selected solar modules. The slope method was the superior approach among the other used approaches, where the average maximum power percentage error of 0.5, 7.5, 5.5, and 3%, repectively, under irradiance 600 and 1000 W/m2 using mono-crystalline silicon, poly-crystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, and copper indium gallium di-selenide, respectively.
