Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a precapillary form of pulmonary hypertension caused by obstruction of pulmonary arteries by organized thrombi, which leads to secondary alterations in lung microvasculature with an increased pulmonary vascular resistance and pressure in the pulmonary artery resulting in the right ventricular heart failure. CTEPH is observed on average in 0.1–9.1% of patients with symptomatic pulmonary embolism; in severe CTEPH the mortality of patients can exceed 90%. Considering extremely unfavorable prognosis, this issue is one of the most serious in modern cardiology. This article presents a clinical case of a 7-year follow-up of a patient with CTEPH stabilized on triple specific therapy of pulmonary hypertension.
