The article deals with the issues of increasing the performance characteristics of lightweight concrete by impregnation with technical sulfur. The object of this study is impregnated molten liquid sulfur impregnated arbolite concrete composites. In Republic of Kazakhstan from processing and refining of high sulfur oil toxic sulfur wastes are accumulated and very quickly renewed in huge quantities, which, polluting the environment, cause extremely unfavorable harm to the population and are a huge problem for the country. In this regard, the use of these toxic sulfur wastes as an impregnating material in the composition of lightweight arbolite concrete solves environmental and economic problems, and also allows to improve the low physical and mechanical performance of brittle porous organic aggregates in the composition of arbolite concrete composites. In the course of the study it was found that the average density of arbolite concrete samples after impregnation increases by 15–20%, and the strength increases from 7.5 to 8.7 MPa. It was also found that the greatest increase in strength in the process of impregnation with sulfur-containing waste is observed in arbolite concrete products made on the basis of porous corn cob waste, at 12-hour impregnation their strength increased to 8.9 MPa. Deep impregnation with liquid technical sulfur should contribute to the increase of physical and mechanical characteristics and durability of lightweight arbolite concrete, as well as solves environmental and economic problems of oil-producing regions of Republic of Kazakhstan. The obtained experimental results indicate that the obtained samples of lightweight concrete can be recommended for use in inspection wells, underground and engineering structures.
