This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor. Post-publication, an investigation conducted by Elseviers Research Integrity & Publishing Ethics team on behalf of the journal identified references that are irrelevant to the article. The authors were asked to comment upon the presence of these references in their work but were unable to satisfactorily address the reason for the references. Additionally, Publishing Ethics team identified a concern around the authenticity of the following figures/image panels: Figure 6 presents the XRD patterns for GO (black), TiO2 (red), and doped TiO2 (green, blue, orange).Upon review, there are some inconsistencies in the patterns. For instance, the GO pattern appears to contain several repeated sections, which may affect its integrity. Additionally, the patterns for B, C, D, and E (TiO2 and GO-doped TiO2) seem to exhibit a peculiar behaviour. Specifically, the (101) peak of anatase appears to shift towards lower Bragg angles as the GO content increases, while other peaks remain unchanged. Furthermore, the four patterns exhibit similar noise and peak shapes, apart from the (101) peak. These observations raise some concerns regarding the authenticity of the patterns presented and Figure 7 also contains several repeated sections, which may affect its integrity. After reducing the line thickness, the zoomed-in section at low Bragg angles has noticeable issues that may affect the clarity and integrity of the data presented. They appear to depict the same source image, but are described as representing different experimental samples. The authors were requested to provide comment on these concerns, as well as the original unprocessed image files to aid investigation. It was felt that the explanation and data provided were unsatisfactory in resolving these concerns. The editor no longer has confidence in the integrity and the findings of the article and has decided to retract it. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process. The authors have not responded to the retraction notice.
