A novel Cu2O/Bi2MoO6 composite photocatalyst sensitized with UiO-66 was developed. Synthesized through a simple chemical mixing procedure, Cu2O/UiO-66/Bi2MoO6 composites photocatalyst was characterized for structural purity, morphology and element distribution. Photocurrent and impedance measurements evidenced the elongated lifetime of photo-induced electrons and holes, as well as multiple channels in the Cu2O/UiO-66/Bi2MoO6 ternary catalyst system for fast electron migration. The excellent photocatalytic performance is attributed to the mitigation of photocorrosion by UiO-66 and the charge transfer between Bi2MoO6 and Cu2O.The Cu2O/UiO-66/Bi2MoO6 composite indicated inhibition against three strains of bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus), Escherichia coli (E.coli) and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), as well as hepatocellular carcinoma cells, which makes it a potentially new generation of antimicrobial/anticancer agent.
