Abstract: The article presents the plant trial results to evaluate the use of organic polymer AS-43124M as filter aid for conditioning and dewatering of sludge from gas scrubbing system in ferroalloy plant. It is shown that using the filter aid allows increasing sludge throughput of plate-and-frame presses due to increasing sludge filtration rate, to reduce cake moisture and suspended solids in filtrate, minimize sludge sticking to the filter cloth thereby facilitating and speeding up release of the cake from the medium during the discharge stage. At present moment organic polymer AS-43124M is used as filter aid for dewatering of sludge from gas scrubbing system in ferroalloy plant on plate-and-frame presses.
