Abstract: Temperatures in the potential hibernation sites of the Semirechensk Salamander Ranodon sibiricus Kessler 1866 in Dzungarian Alatau Mountains have been determined using electronic autonomic registers (loggers). Loggers were placed on the bottom and in bank niches of water streams with different capacities. The minimum temperatures (0.5–1.5°C) for the cold season were recorded in the second half of March to the first decade of April, i.e., shortly before the onset of spring heating. The positive temperature in stream courses throughout the cold season of the year and its diurnal variations indicate no freezing or drying out of streams. The experimental data combined with the literature data suggests that R. sibiricus lives and maintains its vital activity in streams all year round.
