The line of the study is aimed at process development for the joint processing of low-grade agricultural (rice husk and rice straw) and oil residues to obtain environmentally friendly products-activated carbons and their further use for wastewater treatment. The properties of granular activated carbon obtained by carbonization and activation of rice waste (husk and straw) and oil sludge with binders, namely lignosulfonate, carboxymethylcellulose, starch, gelatin, and polyvinyl acetate, were studied. The influence of the ratio of binder, rice waste, and oil sludge on the properties of granular activated carbon was examined. Granular activated carbon based on gelatin and starch binders showed the highest adsorption activity; average activity was based on carboxymethylcellulose and lignosulfonate, while the lowest activity was based on polyvinyl acetate.
