Oocyte donation from medical professionals’ view

Objective. Determine the attitude of medical professionals towards the implementation and control of donor oocytes in programs of assisted reproductive technologies. As well as understand which medical professionals perform IVF programs using donor oocytes (field of work, experience, gender). Material and methods. Analysis and data collection were completed using the Google Forms anonymous online survey method. The survey involved 190 respondents from 4 countries (Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Israel). The data obtained were subjected to statistical processing and further interpretation. Mathematical and statistical assessments of the obtained results were carried out using the applied statistical program Statistica-10. Qualitative variables are described by absolute (n) and relative (%) values with a confi-dence interval (CI). Results. According to the survey results, most of the respondents are directly engaged in programs of assisted reproductive technolo-gies, have more than ten years of experience, and are considered experts and highly-trained specialists in the field. All of these facts, as well as an important opinion of the medical professionals, allow considering oocyte donation programs in ART objectively. In accor-dance with 80.7% of specialists, the altruistic attitude is not the goal behind gamete donors’ motivation. For the most part, donors pursue a more materialistic goal (financial reward). Financial motivation can lead to incomplete information on relevant medical his-tory, which is extremely important for the recipient. Nevertheless, most of the health professionals associated with the field of reproductive medicine expressed their approval for the controlled use of gamete donor programs. Conclusions. The results show that medical professionals and ART specialists recognized the high importance of donor registry imple-mentation, which allowed to initiate the creation of a unified donor register.
