The 4C-based learning model aims to develop students communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity skills. These skills have been recognised by educators as essential elements in training successful professionals. However, a preliminary review of school curricula concluded that the 4C model is poorly applied, and the main focus is still on subject knowledge. For this reason, this study aims to develop and describe teaching strategies that could integrate the 4C model into a language learning process. As the main teaching method, cooperative learning was shown in teamwork, games, and case studies were selected for critical analysis. Hence, a fully visible gain in the 4C model development allows concluding that the resulting learning strategies were highly effective as didactic instrumentation. Practical implications are the didactic scenarios that could be used in foreign language teaching with the objective of both subject knowledge and universal competencies included in the 4C model.
