The Editor in Chief has retracted this article because an investigation by the publisher found evidence of attempts to subvert the peer review process. Additionally, the division of patients into groups in the authors’ grant application appears to differ from the one described in the study. The authors were contacted for an explanation but did not respond to the request to provide the original ethics approval for the study. The Editor in Chief has, therefore, lost confidence in the integrity of the article’s findings. The authors did not respond to any correspondence from the Editor about this retraction.
