Some Elements in the Wedding Traditions of Kazakhs Living in Türkiye and Uzbekistan

Territories stretching from the Caspian Sea in the west to Urumchi of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China in the east and from Karakalpakistan and Tashkent inclusive in the south to Western Siberia in the north, are the lands of compact resettlement of Kazakhs. Since the 1950s, some Kazakhs have been living in Türkiye. In this regard, at present, in the ethnological science of Kazakhstan, one of the most popular topics is the history and traditional culture of Kazakhs who live outside Kazakhstan. The article in this brief assessment of research is shown in Turkish original sources in Kazakh and Russian as well as the analysis of the main positions of the authors of these works. In essence, in the historiography of Kazakhstan, and in the historiography of Türkiye and Uzbekistan, disputes unfolded around such concepts as ethnic history, language, mentality, tradition and issues of theory. As for Kazakhstan, for various political reasons, the impetus to the studies associated with the Kazakhs outside Kazakhstan occurred only after the proclamation of Kazakhstan’s independence in 1991. The theme of foreign Kazakhs turned in Kazakhstan into an important research area. On the one hand, according to ethnologists, ethnic communities (irredentes and diasporas) try to better protect and preserve language and traditional culture. In other words, irredentes and diaspora are historically formed carriers of certain ethnocultural traditions. Along with this, at present, the problems and diasporas have acquired a large way. That is, irredent and diasporas are a political tool that facilitates the integration of the Turkic states in the Eurasian space. Therefore, the article studies various factors affecting the traditional culture of Kazakhs. If we take into account some aspects of the topic, then there are features and nuances that are characteristic of the traditions of Kazakhs in Türkiye and Uzbekistan. And in this article an attempt was made to give information on wedding customs and traditions of Kazakhs. Along with this, the influence of the Turks of Anatolia on the traditional culture of Kazakhs has been established, ethnocultural features were revealed as a result of this influence and information on established elements is given. And the purpose of this work is to present information about rites and customs that have not received sufficient lighting in the works of researchers of the wedding traditions of Kazakhs who live outside Kazakhstan. In this work, wedding traditions are studied in the framework of folklore works. Since in the study of folklore works you can see the worldview of the people. In other words, legends, epics reflect the thinking, lifestyle of the people. Some elements of customs and traditions of Kazakhs also influenced their folklore. From this point of view, folklore is one of the important elements that form a traditional culture.
