The article publishes for the first time the results of the metallographic study of the Issyk-type iron dagger found in Jetisu. The dagger is dated to the period of the second half of the 6th — first half of the 5th century BCE. The total length of the product, the surface of which is subjected to severe corrosion, is 309 mm. By the cross-section of the handle, the change in hardness on the Vickers scale is within the range from 88 to 178 HV10. The analysis showed that the dagger was made by the bloomery method. At the same time, the heat treatment mode used in its manufacture made it possible to obtain low-carbon steel.
