The study analysed the foreign policy features of the Kazakh Khan Uali in the new political space, the distinctive features of his invisible struggle and «peaceful resistance» to the power of the Russian and Qing emperors. In this study, the authors used Russian archival documents from state funds. Many documents from the State Historical Archive of the Omsk Region were previously unpublished and declassified in 2019 and have not been introduced into scientific circulation yet. Therefore, it was possible to reveal new historical facts about the activities of Uali Khan in the context of his diplomatic relations with the Russian and Qing Empires. The information presented in this study allowed relativising the established judgements and beginning to restore an objectively more complex portrait of an understudied ruler in the history of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
